Funny Old Internet Times
Recently, I saw my old yahoo email id, which I created in year 2000 and want to check if it is still, exists. To my surprise, it still exists; however, it is not active since then. So I reactive it and saw there are no emails in my inbox, it might be deleted or not received any emails. I hardly remember it.
I logged into yahoo messenger with that id, to check there are any friends whom I am not in touch. When I logged in, I saw only one person is online. I started sending offline messages to all folks in my friend list. The message is “R U still using this ID”. Then two of them responded, one is online and another is in invisible mode.
1) Person (in Invisible mode.)
She asked, “Do I know you?”
I said, “We chatted before, I created this id in 2000 and just now I reactive it to
check.
She said, “There is lot of difference between 2000 and 2008”.
I said, “Yep, may I know your ASL. Do you remember we used to ask this while
starting new chat with stranger” (ASL means Age Sex Location, those days we use to ask people before starting any conversation on chat with strangers).
She said; now I do not chat anymore and I do not want memorize them. We were
so stupid those days.
Have a nice day, bye.
I too said, bye and end that chat.
And another chat simultaneously going on,

2) She said, why?
I created this id in 2000 and just reactive this id. Therefore, I am checking it.
She said, ok.
Conversation continued, I forget some lines as I was chatting with above person at the same time.
In the mean time, I asked her, ASL plz.
She said, I am from northeast.

I asked, are you from Manipur.
She told, no, I am from
I said, ok what are you doing now?
She said, I am working.
I asked where you are working.
She said I got government job.
I said, congrats.
(Now, I am about to leave. Therefore, I told her, catch you later and bye.)
(I observed she was so excited to chat).
She said. Nice talking to you. All the best.
Bye.
Those days, we are studying in college and very excited to chat with strangers on messenger all over the world. I use to see people chatting and checking emails. Now, almost people stop using yahoo messenger for chatting and finding new friends. People now chat only to the people whom they know and to their friends. However, people still making new friends on social networking sites, which is more informative than compare to old chat applications. In social networking sites, there is no need to ask ASL before starting conversation. It become very fast, now we can post our pictures. We can search our old or school friends or like-minded people from different communities. You will get bored if I write more on this, as you all guys know everything about it. We have to wait and see what will be the next… any guesses???
